Areas of Expertise:
Addiction: I have spent several years working in Methadone and Suboxone clinics with individuals who were in the middle of the opioid epidemic. I have helped individuals overcome addictions to substances such as heroin and alcohol as well as behavioral addictions, including gambling, pornography, and overeating.
Trauma: Dr Maté said, "Not everyone who has trauma has addiction, but everyone who has addiction has trauma." My work in addictions has inevitably led me to become interested in helping individuals overcome trauma of all kinds. I've had experience helping individuals with family trauma, single event trauma, racial trauma, and religious trauma.
Grief and Loss: Also coming out of my work in addictions has been my interest in helping people heal from various kinds of grief. Grief comes in many different forms and isn't always understood.
Anger Management: I have had the privilege of working closely with the Philadelphia County of Parole and Probation to set up anger management programs for individuals recently released.
Men's and Woman's Specific Issues: Gender specific issues are important to discuss, especially in a relationship. I have helped individuals explore communication issues, sexual frigidity and compulsions, and work-life balance issues.
Demographics:
I have had several years working closely with Black and Latino clients. I have assisted clients on parole and probation work through various court appointed stipulations. I have had experience working with clients from 14 years old to 90 years old.
